The San Antonio Cactus and Xerophyte Society was organized in 1977. Its mission is to promote the study,
propagation and public awareness of cacti and other succulent plants.
Benefits of Membership
Members of SACXS are eligible to participate in many interesting activities and events throughout the year, for
example, the Club Show and Sale every April, private and commercial greenhouse and material yard tours, the
Annual Club Picnic in July and the Christmas Dinner Party in December, exciting day or overnight field trips to
private ranches for plant and rock hunts and public lands for identifying plants and picture taking, educational
guest speakers at monthly meetings and a members-only library containing many volumes on cacti and
succulents.
Members are encouraged to participate in SACXS regular meetings by bringing extra plants as a donation to the
Club’s raffles. Throughout the year, club members may be called upon to assist with refreshments or to bring
plants for auction at the monthly meetings. Members may also volunteer to participate in club sponsored
activities such as Club Sales or members may be asked to hold a position on the Board.
Several SACXS members are commercial vendors of cacti and succulents or other plant related businesses, such
as landscaping or hand-made pottery. We encourage networking among our membership so check them out on
our Vendors page.
Monthly Meetings
**Monthly Club Meetings Are Currently Conducted as Webinars**
Regular monthly meetings are held every third Wednesday of the month at the San Antonio Garden Center
located at 3310 N. New Braunfels, at N. New Braunfels and Funston (parking entrance is off of Funston);
however, please be sure to check our Events page as our club occasionally meets at members’ homes if an
educational activity is planned, such as, installing a rock, cactus and succulent garden or closing-in and opening-
up a greenhouse. You may also call any of our Board members for information. Guests are welcome at regular
meetings and we look forward to your interest and participation.
